Are you a recent education graduate or a current teacher who wants to make a big difference in the lives of students who need additional and specialized support? This fully online special education program will teach you how to create safe, inclusive, and culturally responsive learning environments from highly qualified instructors with specialized knowledge about inclusive practices. It’s founded on research-based instructional strategies and innovative ways to apply knowledge and skills, including learning how to assess student growth and innovate in ways that will help your students succeed and become their best selves.
The online design gives you flexibility with your schedule. You’ll complete field experiences through practice and student teaching in your local area.
There’s a high demand in the Elmira region for teachers, which is why 100% of our recent graduate education program students have found full-time teaching positions in the region. Demand is just as strong for special education teachers, with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projecting an 8% growth between 2020 to 2030.
State law requires EC to collect immunization records from students taking six or more credit hours in any term.
Elmira College is a member of the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP). Pursuant to §52.21 of the Regulations of the Commissioner of Education, the educator programs offered by Elmira College are considered to be continuously accredited for purposes of meeting the New York State requirement that all such programs maintain continuous accreditation.
